Employment Policy Pay Scale Equity
In alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 8, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has implemented policies that ensure pay equity and actively work towards eliminating gender pay gaps across its academic and administrative workforce. This commitment is outlined in several key policies, demonstrating the university’s dedication to fair compensation for all staff, regardless of gender.
Standardised Salaries and Benefits
UNAIR’s commitment to pay scale equity is established under Rector’s Decree Number 1413/UN3/2019, which mandates standardized base salaries for all lecturers and permanent staff. The decree considers qualifications, performance, and workload, and importantly, it applies uniformly across genders. This policy is further supported by East Java Governor’s Decree Number 188/889/KPTS/013/2022 on minimum wage standards, which serves as a benchmark to ensure fair compensation within the university.
In addition to equitable base pay, UNAIR ensures that all employees receive equal access to additional benefits. Rector’s Decree Number 333/UN3/2020 guarantees consistent allowances, meal benefits, performance bonuses, insurance, retirement funds, and leave entitlements. These benefits are provided uniformly, reinforcing UNAIR’s commitment to a supportive and equitable work environment.
Focused Efforts to Measure and Eliminate Gender Pay Gaps
Understanding the challenges that female employees often face, UNAIR provides flexible working arrangements alongside family-friendly policies. For instance, the university offers 15 hours of free childcare each week through its on-campus childcare facility. This initiative is designed to reduce gender pay gaps by supporting female lecturers and staff, enabling them to maintain roles that align with their qualifications and professional skills while managing family responsibilities.
UNAIR's Long-Term Commitment to Pay Equity
UNAIR’s approach to pay equity goes beyond compliance; it reflects a fundamental belief in creating a fair and inclusive workplace. By prioritising standardised salaries, offering comprehensive benefits, and developing programs to support gender pay gap elimination, UNAIR is setting a benchmark in higher education for equal pay and fair employment practices.
