Bottom Financial Quintile Admission Target
The Bottom Financial Quintile Admission Target is an initiative aimed at increasing access to higher education for students from the lowest income brackets. This target is part of a broader commitment by various universities and educational institutions to promote equity and inclusion in education, particularly for those who are economically disadvantaged.
Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) prioritizes admitting students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The 25,461 students were admitted from the bottom 20% of household incomes, representing 82% of total admissions that year. These students benefit from several scholarships, ie, Griya Khadijah, Smart Indonesia Education Card, and support from Education Fund Management Institutions, the government, and NGOs. They are mostly coming from underrepresented regions in Indonesia, including Papua. UNAIR is committed to annually increasing the admissions target for students from the bottom 20% of household income, with the goal of enhancing educational accessibility and ensuring equitable distribution of education for underprivileged students at higher education levels. To achieve this, UNAIR involves expanding the existing scholarship programs, fostering collaborations with patterns, and creating educational initiatives to facilitate the academic success of underprivileged students.
