Water-conscious planting
Airlangga University (UNAIR) implements water-efficient landscaping practices. Recognizing the importance of minimizing water usage in our campus environment, several strategies are made including the integration of drought-tolerant plants such as Balibong and Ketapang Varigata , which thrive with minimal watering during dry seasons. Additionally, UNAIR also applies xeriscaping principles to enhance water efficiency by grouping plants with similar hydration needs. Every year, UNAIR deploys advanced irrigation technologies to adjust water supply in real-time based on environmental conditions, preventing water wastage. Other than preventing waster waste, rain water is also used for irrigation coming from the rainwater-harvesting system installed in specific zones as our commitment to water reuse. Undoubtedly, educating our academic community is part of our responsibility to continuously implement water-wise landscaping and practice responsible water consumption for a sustainable campus landscape.
