Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) extends water conservation support beyond the campus area. This initiative is equipped with technologies that bring benefits to the local communities. These include: (1) solar-panel powered irrigation system designed to provide farmers with an eco-friendly and accessible source of clean water; and (2) smart-watering technology, to monitor soil moisture levels and control the plants watering. In addition, the trees planting program has become an important and regular activity at UNAIR, which involves students and staff and collaborating with NGOs. Apart from planting trees, conservation education is conducted to raise awareness about ecosystems and procedures for planting mangroves.
