Waste water treatment
Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is equipped with a highly efficient water treatment system. Using a sewage treatment plant (STP) , it efficiently processes water, ensuring the neutralization of both acidic and alkaline elements before it is either discharged or safely stored in concrete tanks. The STP covers five different buildings on the campus. The treated water is used in various purposes, including sanitation needs and maintaining the campus landscaping. UNAIR strictly adheres to a quality management system that provides clear guidelines for handling wastewater, ensuring its safety before it undergoes recycling or disposal. There is a dedicated quality assurance procedure: wastewater is collected in designated areas and undergoes thorough testing before being employed for landscaping purposes on campus. It’s worth noting that water recycled from the university mosque is also used for irrigating plants. All of these initiatives are in full compliance with both regulatory and environmental standards, reflecting our unwavering dedication to maintaining a sustainable campus environment.
