Action plan to reduce plastic waste
Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has an action plan to reduce plastic waste on campus through Rector’s Decree Number 2904/UN3/2019 concerning the Prohibition of Using Plastic Drinking Water Packaging and/or Plastic Bags at UNAIR. In an effort to minimize plastic waste in the UNAIR environment, the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) strictly enforces a ban on the use of bottled drinking water in the faculty area. This prohibition is regulated in Circular Letter Number 3410/UN3.1.10/TU/2019 concerning Instructions Not to Use Bottled Drinking Water. Also, UNAIR ensures that students are not allowed to sell bottled mineral water and all kinds of other bottled drinks. UNAIR urges all academics community to use cloth bags, bring their own tumblrs or drinking bottles, reduce plastic packaging to become environmentally friendly cutery. To realize a zero plastic campus, UNAIR collaborates with the Student Executive Board to socialize and campaign for efforts to minimize the use of plastic waste.
