Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) raises awareness about over, illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing for local or national communities by providing free community services in some areas. The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences held the International Conference on Fisheries and Marine Science in 2022 with the theme “Optimizing the Utilization of Aquatic Resources Through the Blue Economy Program Towards Achieving the SDGs Program.” It covered several topics, including Fisheries Management and Coastal Ecosystems, which covered educating people about the dangers of illegal fishing that might cause dead zones. This summit was an excellent international platform for academics, researchers, industry participants, and students around the world. Besides, the community services team is also involved in the arrest of the perpetrators of illegal fishing to save marine habitats. The summit also facilitated participants to plant fish apartments and mangroves in the coastal area of Situbondo, East Java.
