Maintain ecosystems and their biodiversity
Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) through The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) partnering with the Fish Cultivator Group (Pokdakan) to address water pollution in Cumpleng Village, Lamongan, with focus on maintaining and extending existing ecosystems and their biodiversity, of both plants and animals, especially ecosystems under threat. This partnership involves offering guidance on addressing the issues of heavy metal contamination and plastic pollution in aquatic environments that pose a risk to ecosystems and the diversity of species. Furthermore, UNAIR has released 42 hatchlings onto Cemara Beach in Banyuwangi. These hatchlings are the outcome of a successful hatching process in the Intan Box incubator developed by professors from the School of Health and Life Sciences (SIKIA), in collaboration with the Banyuwangi Sea Turtle Foundation, the Environmental Service, and BCA. This initiative aims to protect turtles, which are endangered animals facing the threat of extinction.
