Monitoring the health of aquatic ecosystems
Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is dedicated to enhancing the sustainability of aquatic ecosystems through a combination of monitoring initiatives and tangible environmental efforts. As part of their commitment to assessing the well-being of aquatic ecosystems, UNAIR has partnered with the Surabaya City Agriculture Service and students engaged in the Airlangga Global Fisheries Symposium (AGFS). This yearly event aims to address the carbon cycle challenge, which is currently contributing to climate change, while also annually monitoring the condition of aquatic environments. Besides, UNAIR, through the School of Health and Natural Sciences (SIKIA), empowered and monitored 25 members of the fishermen group as conservation cadres for sustainable turtle life on Santen Island, Banyuwangi. Conservation actualization carried out by SIKIA together with fishermen groups is an effort to realize the protection and sustainable use of oceans, seas, and marine resources.
