Conservation and sustainable utilization of the oceans

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) hosted events to promote conservation and sustainability of oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, and marine resources. A short-course program named Airlangga Global Ocean concentrates on the threat of aquatic ecosystems and promotes action to save the oceans for viability. Another program, SEASOLDIER, is our collaboration with marine conservation NGO to conduct webinars, discussions, and case studies. It aims to acknowledge our communities especially young ones about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems to tackle the issue on SDG 14. In 2022, our Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences hosted the Airlangga Global Fisheries Symposium to assist the government in addressing the carbon cycle issue, which currently contributes to climate change. The event includes the implementation of mangrove planting along the coastline of Wonorejo Mangrove Ecotourism in Surabaya.
