SDG 5: Gender Equality

Student Access Measures

Women's application in underrepresented subjects

Airlangga University is dedicated to promoting gender diversity and encouraging applications by women in applied sciences major. In 2022, through the Islamic Economic Development Institute (LPEI), we organized a series of seminars and training programs focused on data science and programming. These programs emphasize text mining methods, offering essential skills for the data-driven job market. We measured that the majority of attendees were women. Moreover, annually, we held the Airlangga Education Expo as well as socialization to the high school students to encourage and promote data science, technology, and industrial engineering subjects. It shows that more than 50% of female students accepted in those subjects in 2022 where data science and engineering subjects are still dominated by men in Indonesia.
