Student and Staff Hunger Interventions

The Student and Staff Hunger Interventions is a critical metric designed to evaluate the effectiveness of programs aimed at addressing food insecurity among university students and staff. This indicator encompasses various strategies and initiatives implemented by educational institutions to mitigate hunger and promote food security within their communities.

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) provides intervention or prevention to alleviate hunger among students and staff. UNAIR Cafetaria offers healthy, affordable options and nutritious meals through Airlangga Bangun Persada (ABADA) catering that can be accessed by students and staff at UNAIR. Annually, UNAIR consistently conducts food tests for individuals aspiring to become cafeteria food vendors. This shows that UNAIR is safeguarding the quality and nutrition of the food provided. In addition, UNAIR has the Center for Social Fund Management (PUSPAS), which regularly provides food assistance to students and staff. By 2022, PUSPAS provided as many as 20,000 free foods, including during holy Ramadan, UNAIR’s anniversary, and Food Aid every Friday. Moreover, UNAIR regulates the staff food allowance through Rector’s Decree No. 333/UN3/2020 according to their presence. UNAIR gives an allowance of around IDR 35,000 to IDR 37,000 to each staff member every day.
