Sustainable Food Purchases
Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) prioritizes the purchase of products from local and sustainable sources through Airlangga Bangun Persada (ABADA) catering, which manages cafeteria services. UNAIR regulates that the purchase and procurement of sustainable food sources in cafeterias, as well as the consumption used during meetings and other activities, comes from local food producers and distributors. The submersible food ingredients used throughout the cafeteria are derived from ethical farming and fishing activities. This commitment is regulated through Circular Letter Number 849 of 2022 on Sustainable Food Resource Optimization efforts at UNAIR. Furthermore, UNAIR consistently conducts food tests for individuals aspiring to become cafeteria food vendors to ensure the safeguarding of the quality and nutrition of the food provided. Moreover, UNAIR also pays attention to sustainable packaging and eco-friendly packaging for food used by cafeterias and caterers.
