Waste disposal policy - hazardous materials
Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has policies regarding the waste disposal practices stated in Waste Procedure Guideline regulated by the Directorate of Logistics, Security, and Environment through SOP-UNAIR-DSP-DSP23. It aims to separate the hazardous waste to be collected and stored in appropriate containers until it can be safely disposed of in the designated area, either directly or through an appropriate waste contractor (point 7.6.3). Procedures outlined in paragraphs 7.6.8 to 7.6.10 also govern the handling of biological, plastic, chemical, and other types of waste. Point 7.8 outlines how waste is managed by specific faculties and departments. Waste management can alternatively be outsourced to a third party that retrieves waste from the landfill on a monthly basis (point 7.8). Thus, it is ensured that we actively involve in monitoring and assessing our waste management practices (point 7.9).
