Waste Tracking
Universitas Airlangga (UANIR) measures, manages, and promotes recycling of all waste generated by the whole university environment. In 2022, UNAIR reported that a total of 821 metric tons of waste were successfully recycled, while only 44 metric tons were disposed of in landfills. Our waste management practices are governed by the Directorate of Logistics, Security, and Environment through the Waste Procedure Guideline, which is outlined in SOP-UNAIR-DSP-DSP23 and supported by Rector’s Decree Number 1050/UN3/2021. These guidelines comprehensively cover the handling of various types of waste and emphasize the principles of reuse, reduction, and recycling. We also operate a composting house to recycle organic waste, and the resulting compost is then used as fertilizer across our university.
