Operational Measures

Waste disposal / landfill policy

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Green Campus initiatives include measuring the amount of waste recycled and sent to landfills as stated in our regulations. We place separated trash bin for our everyday waste indicating organic, non-organic, and hazardous materials, to calculate and assess our waste. UNAIR has waste management protocols tailored to specific waste types stated in Rector’s Decree Number 1050/UN3/2021. Biological waste undergoes processes such as incineration, burial, autoclaving, or combustion. Plastic waste is given priority for recycling, as is white paper waste. Sharp objects and glass are disposed of in specialized spaces. Chemical waste is managed using properly labeled containers. Moreover, we have the facility to process battery waste that the recovered metal is repurposed for development and research, under the supervision of the Advanced and Multidisciplinary Technology faculty. UNAIR also evaluates the procedures and undertakes specified KPIs for sustainability.
