Ethical sourcing policy
Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) supports the ethical resources of food and supplies within the university. Through Circular Letter Number 849 in 2022 on Sustainable Food Resource Optimization at UNAIR, which highlights the priority of purchasing food supplied from local farmers to ensure the economic sustainability. Furthermore, choosing nearest food supplies is our consideration to reduce the carbon emissions for delivery process. Also, we are making efforts to ensure that our egg supplies come from cage free chicken as our commitment to ethical farming, and our seafood supplies for our campus canteen. SOP and policy Number 19 in 2021 on UNAIR Goods Management prioritize ethical management by choosing responsible suppliers in using recyclable raw materials and consolidating shipments method to reduce both waste and fuel consumption. However, our Halal Center regularly conducts testing services for our halal food products in accordance with as stated in Rector’s Decree No. 1014/UN3/2022.
